"One Bad Thing" by Bill Eidson

If you replaced one word in the title of One Bad Thing it would be an apt description of the book. I would just replace "Bad" with "Mediocre." Of course on the dust jacket of the book there were blurbs by people praising other books by the author, Bill Eidson. There was even a blurb from Peter Straub, the author of one of the best horror novels, Ghost Story. I was expecting a book full of suspense and twists. Instead this is a predictable story with unremarkable characters. Perhaps his other books are better. I do not plan on finding out. I have other ways to waste my time. If I had had another book on hand I would not have finished this book. There was one surprise at the end of the novel, but if you want your mysteries to keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next look elsewhere.

Life on the Street in Winston-Salem.

The city where I am living, like many cities in this country, does not make life easy for people who are homeless. I am staying at a homeless shelter, but we cannot stay there during the day. There are no public restrooms downtown in Winston-Salem. Many businesses have signs that read "No Public Restroom." There are no water fountains so that people can stay hydrated. This makes it very hard for people without incomes to stay hydrated. Fortunately I am able to spend time in the public library to get away from the heat outside. At the city bus station people are threatened with getting arrested for trespassing if they are not taking a city bus or a Greyhound bus, and they are on the property to use the restroom or to get a drink of water from the water fountain. People have been arrested for doing this. It is harder for women who are homeless. There is only one shelter for women in this city. There are churches who sometimes give water to people who are out in the heat. I hope that I am able to find a job and a place to stay before my time is up for staying at the shelter. Doing that is not easy without a phone. I am not giving up. I do think that public restrooms and water fountains should be available for everyone to use.

Скруджи is the newest Russian rapper whose music I have discovered. I really like his raps and his videos. He is a sexy man. I wish I had the money to download his music or to buy one of his CD's. Maybe some day I will be able to do that. L'One is someone else whose music I enjoy. I discovered L'One because of a Video that Тимати did with L'One and some other Russian Rappers. Through Twitter I hope to learn about other Russian Rappers through someone I am following there.

I am not fond of Putin's homophobic actions, but I do feel a connection with the people of Russia. I still want to speak the language better. It is part of who I am.

It is funny that I have contact with people around the world, yet I spend much of my time alone in the country where I live.

Feeling Better

I was feeling down earlier today, then I got a message from someone special. We were able to spend time together. I was able to make him feel good, and that made me feel good. I will be happy when we can spend more time together, but until then I will enjoy the times we can spend together. I love pleasing a man, and when it someone whom I love it is even better. I hope that some day I will be able to help him in other ways in addition to pleasing him sexually.

Another Update

Sometimes it helps to vent about the things with which I am dealing. It may not be entertaining, but life is not always fun. I am keeping my head up.

I am listening to Hank Williams III. That is cheering me up. I like his attitude of not giving a fuck what people think about him. Sometimes I need to be reminded to have the same attitude. Also it is fun music. I heard from someone I met recently that he is a fun guy to party with.

If you have not seen the videos by Liberal Redneck, Trae Crowder, I would recommend checking them out. They are hilarious, and he does a good job of busting stereotypes. He is one of my new heroes.

I have also been listening to Russian rap. There are some great Russian rappers. I will write more on that topic later.

A Short Whiny Post

I know that things will get better, but sometimes I get discouraged. I am not going to give up, but sometimes I get close to wanting to do that. I spend too much of my time alone. When I think that things cannot get worse they do. I need the support of friends, and often I do not have that. I am sorry that this post is not very entertaining, but I need to release these negative feelings. I will keep on working on my goals of finding a job and home. To quote the translation of the last words of Caligula, my favorite of the Caesars, "I am still alive."

Dump Trump

Why are people willing to overlook things about Donald Trump that they would not tolerate in other people? He does not have any qualifications to be President of the United States. He has never been elected to public office. He inherited most of his wealth. He has used bankruptcy laws to benefits, and at the same time he has hurt many people financially. It would not be tolerated for anyone else running for public office to have his marriage history. He needs to be held to the same standards as everybody else running for public office. We need to do everything possible to make sure that he is not elected as President.

"The God of Small Things" by Arundhati Roy (redacted)

The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy is a good novel, but I do not find it completely satisfying.  The caste system in India is something that I have never really been able to understand. I could relate in part to some of the characters, but they did not seem to be fully developed. Some ideas could have been developed more, and some ideas were repeated too often. I do not understand why this novel received as much attention as it did. At times it seems like the author was trying to be provocative. She made points that were more effectively made by other writers.

Why is it that there are people who think that it is all right for children to see two men beating the shit out of each other, but they think that it is offensive to see two people of the same gender kissing or embracing? Why is is considered obscene for people to be seen engaged in sexual activity? What is obscene about a person's genitalia? What harm does it do for a man to be seen sucking another man's cock? If you do not like what you are seeing, look the other way. I think that someone being treated as a second-class citizen because of whom the love or because of who they are is obscene. Racism, homophobia, sexism, transphobia, religious intolerance, xenophobia, etc. are obscene. Saying the words shit and fuck and other similar words do no harm. Too many people are getting upset about the wrong things.

Stop the Republicans

It is very important that in the election this year we do not vote Republican. If Trump is elected President and a Republican majority is voted into office a tragedy could follow. The Republicans want to abolish the Affordable Care Act, the want to abolish Social Security, they want to take away LGBTQ rights, they want to roll back women's rights, they want to keep the minimum wage from being raised. Millions of people would lose health insurance. I would not be able to get insurance because of a pre-existing condition. Millions of people would end up not being to buy food, and millions would probably end up homeless. The only people who would benefit from this happening would be rich white men. We need to keep this tragedy from happening.

Friends on the Streets

When I do find a job and home I do not want to lose contact with the friends whom I have met on the street. There is one guy in particular who is very nice and very sexy. He is straight, but he is open minded. He said that he will give me a haircut that I need very badly. He knows that I would suck him off if he told me to. The other day he said that I was wearing a very gay shirt. I said, "What do you expect?' Then he remembered that I am gay. He jokes with me in a good-natured way. I know that he would protect me on the street if I needed his help. I have formed other friendships. I cannot always find them, but it helps to have friends who are not judgmental. Even if I lose touch with them I will have some good memories.

A Radical Idea

What is so sacred about boundaries between countries? These have been changing for centuries. People are willing to die over pieces of land. Governments think nothing about sending citizens to die so that territory will not be lost. I know that it will not happen, but what would be terrible if all of the people of the planet joined together to care for each other and for the planet. That would be the best form of Socialist Anarchy. I am not saying that we should all speak one language. I am not saying that I would want to end global diversity. I am just saying that it would be wonderful if we all would accept each other as we are. I am for the acceptance of all gender identities, views of religion, races, ethnicities, etc. We are all of the same race really - the human race.

Čo je tak posvätná o hraniciach medzi jednotlivými krajinami? Tie boli meniace sa po celé stáročia. Ľudia sú ochotní zomrieť kvôli pozemkov. Vlády si, že nič o zaslanie občanov, aby sa zomrieť, takže nebudú stratené, že územia. Viem, že sa to nestane, ale to, čo by bolo hrozné, ak všetci ľudia na planéte spojili starať o seba a pre našu planétu. To by bolo najlepšie forma socialistickej Anarchy. It is time for a government that takes care of all people in the country. Far too many people in the U.S.A. are homeless and/or do not have enough money to pay for food and healthcare. The economy of this country is hurt by the tax breaks given to the very rich and to companies who ship jobs abroad. Corporations who ship jobs abroad exploit workers there so that they can make large profits. It is time to overturn Citizens United. The political system of the United States needs to completely overhauled. All discrimination in this country needs to end. All people are worthy of respect. The people need to be educated about what Socialist Anarchy really is. Enough is enough.

Настало время для правительства, которое заботится о всех людей в стране. Es ist Zeit für eine Regierung, die Versorgung aller Menschen in dem Land stattfindet . Viel zu viele Menschen in den USA sind obdachlos und / oder haben nicht genug Geld für Nahrung und Gesundheit zu zahlen. A Tense Morning.

I do not want a repeat of this morning. I was walking with a young friend. Last night this friend seemed depressed. I told his that I was there for him if he wanted to talk. This morning as we were walking we turned a corner. Another guy ran up and punched him in the jaw,. He fell to the ground. I did not move. Other guys approached menacingly. There was a tense moment. Fortunately my friend was allowed to join another of our friends, and I was able to continue on my way.

I had been told by one of the staff members at the shelter that I could get a referral for a neurologist at a clinic. I went to the clinic expecting to get a referral. The receptionist and nurse were kind. The doctor said that he could not refer me to a neurologist. Instead he said that he could refer me to someone else who could refer me to a clinic. He was referring me to people who could not help me, because I do not have a state ID for this state. I explained the situation to him. I told him that I do not have money to pay for an ID. Instead of offering ideas of what I could do he became rude. I told the receptionist that I wanted to file a complain, because I did not appreciate being treated rudely. The doctor came out and told me to leave the clinic.

Later I was walking down and saw two guys whom I know. One was holding a large knife and was threatening the other.

I need some calm.

"A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson

If you want to read an entertaining, humorous book about a walk along the Appalachian Trail, A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail is not the book that you want to read. The books has quotes from critics who said that the is hilarious. There are many quotes praising the book. I wondered if the critics read the same book that I did. I think that the book is like the trail. It started out very fun, but it soon became tedious and boring. I do not know why I continued reading through to the end. The author asked this of someone concerning the trail, "Did you ever think, 'Jeez, this is too much. I don't know that I want to go through with this'?" I should have done what he and his travelling companion did. They did not complete the trail. I should have tossed the book aside and moved to a book worth reading. I do not plan on reading any of Bill Bryson's other books.

"Rails Under My Back" by Jeffrey Renard Allen

Last night I finished reading Rails Under My Back, a wonderful Jeffery Renard Allen. This novel is like a sumptuous meal. Time is fluid in this novel. The point of view changes often. This novel is referred to as African American literature. It is said to center around two cousins whose fathers are brothers and whose mothers are sisters. It is about the two men, but it is also about their families and the friends of their families. I would not want to put this novel into any one category. It is a book that I would highly recommend. It makes me want to read the poetry, short stories and other novel by the author. This novel deserves to be  placed among the classics of literature.

I have been hoarding clothes for too long. I am slowly getting rid of some of them. A lot of times I get more pleasure out of giving away things than I do from holding onto them. I love giving pleasure to men. I receive pleasure when I give it. I especially love giving pleasure to a special man whom I am growing to love very much. We have not known each other, but it feels like I have known him. I feel like I am at home when I am with him.

I have reconnected with someone whom I love very much. We spent time together yesterday and the day before. He is someone whom I trust very much. I love to make him feel good in as many ways as I can. Thinking about him brings a smile to my face. I hope that we will be spend more time together. I would love to be his sexual slave and his partner in life.

A Very Short but Meaningful Relationship

I once had a very brief relationship. We were together for about a week. I know that that is not long enough for it to be considered a relationship, but in that week he made me feel loved very much. I slept every night in his arms. He was looking for a submissive man, and I was looking for a dominant man. It was not because he pampered me with gifts, delicious meals and other treats like a foot massage that I felt loved. We spent a lot of time together in silence, because words were not always necessary. At the end of our week together there was a house fire. As a result of that fire we were very stressed. I made a stupid mistake, and he threw me out. I still regret my actions, and I would go back to him if I could. One of the ways in which we are alike is that we are both very outspoken. There is not a day that goes by without me missing him. I want only the best for him.

Staying on the Fringes of Society

I do want to find a job and a home, but I do not want to lose my fiends who are on the fringes of society. I have never felt comfortable in the mainstream of society in the U.S.A. I would love to be able to travel around the world and to move along the fringes of society there. I realize that I have an idealized vision of life of Gypsy society, and I would probably not fit in there. I would like to have a taste of the life in that society. I still would love to spend time in Central and Eastern Europe and immerse in the cultures and languages there. This is a longing that continues to grow strong. I also want to spend time in France. When I do not have anyone with whom I can speak French I feel as a part of who I am is being neglected. I still want to have sex with a man who is speaking to me in German.

Why is it necessary to look and act a certain way in order to gain employment? Sometimes more emphasis is placed on a person's outward appearance than is placed on one's abilities. One has to dress a certain way in order to gain employment. There are prejudices against people who have tattoos. People who express their through their hair color also can have difficulty gaining employment in jobs above a certain level. Whether or not someone is hired should depend on whether or not they meet the qualifications of the position not on their outward appearance. Also the personal life should not affect whether or not one is considered for a job. Employers should not go out of their way to find out what job applicants do online. I can understand an employer not hiring someone not hiring someone who openly speaks against them, but nothing else should be considered. I am in desperate need of a job, but I am not going to change who I am in order to gain employment.
