People Asking for Money on Facebook and other Social Sites

There are some things that I do not understand about people who ask for money on Facebook and other Social Media Sites. Often they tell similar stories. Before they ask for money they often say that their parents both died and they are living with a sick grandparent. They often say that they are in school. They either ask for money for a bag of rice or for money for school. Sometimes they just ask for money without the background story. I have told these people that I did not have enough money to pay my own bills, and I could not send them money.  I would tell them that I was worried about money myself. This was the truth. I would not send money to someone I know only online anyway. Then they often start to insult me. They often accuse me of being selfish or heartless. They say that they know that I have money and I am not telling them the truth. Do they really think that as a result of them insulting me I am going to change my mind and send them money? Sometimes they would say that they only needed $50.00 or $100.00. They would jeep repeating this even after I told them that I did not have that much. I would like to be able to help people I know personally, but I am not able to do that. Sometimes people say that they understand that I cannot send them money. Then they ask again for money right after they say that. What the fuck? I do not know how many people I have blocked after this kind of behavior. There have been too many cases of people being scammed on these sites. I am a loving, giving person, but I am not stupid enough to fall for that. If you are trying to get money from someone have enough sense not to insult them. Nobody I do not know personally is going to get money from me.
