"Racism 101" by Nikki Giovanni

Racism 101, published in 1994, is a collection of essays by Nikki Giovanni. Her writing always moves me deeply. The essays in this collection cover topics that range from Spike Lee's film about Malcolm X to Toni Morrison to Star Trek to racism in education to the tenure system to gardening, etc. Nikki Giovanni is mostly known as an outspoken poet. All of these essays have a poetic element. I cannot imagine anyone reading her writing and remaining unmoved. I first read a poem by her sometime before 1977. Her writing feeds the mind and the soul. I highly recommend her writings to all.
