I do not understand why there are people who are members of the working class in the USA who continue to vote for people who are against raising the minimum wage. They believe the lie that raising the minimum wage would cost jobs. If raising the minimum wage costs any jobs it is because of the greed of the employers. It has been proven that raising the minimum wage stimulates the economy. Employers expect their workers who work for the minimum wage to be grateful that they have jobs. Office holders who oppose the raising of the minimum wage should be voted out of office. It is time too for workers to take the power that is rightfully ours. The time has come for a general strike. Employers who say that their workers should be grateful for their jobs need to be shown how much they should be grateful that they have employees. No one who has a full-time job should have to struggle to buy food, pay bills and have healthcare. Workers should not have to depend on government programs in order to survive. The politicians who do not want to raise the minimum wage also want to cut or abolish the programs that the low minimum wage makes necessary. We also need to vote out of office anyone who opposes universal healthcare. The Affordable Care Act has helped a lot, but it does not go far enough. The political and healthcare systems in this country need to be completely overhauled. We the people need to seize the power that is rightfully ours.
