"This Country Was Founded On..."

There are people who try to back up what their position on certain views by saying "This country was founded on...." Even if this were true about whatever they are defending does not mean that that back it a good idea. The land on which the U.S. now exists was not uninhabited when the first settlers came here. It was taken from the people living here. It was as a result of genocide that this land was acquired. The argument is made that people who are in favor of gun control want to take away their guns. That is not true. We want responsible gun ownership. Guns have changed a lot since this country's constitution was written. Why do people need automatic weapons? People also distort the freedom of religion. They think that if they have to tolerate different religious views their rights are being violated. This is not true. Giving other people the same rights that one enjoys does subtract from one's rights. I think the phrase "In God we trust" should be removed from the money of the U.S.A. Some people use this as a way of defending their view that this is a Christian nation. It also seems to go against what the constitution says against the establishment of a state religion. Many people say that they do not want the government to say what they can and cannot do. They think this as long as what as what is being done aligns with their views. They do not agree when it is a question of same-sex marriage, women's health issues, religious views, race issues, minimum wage, gender reassignment, etc... I know that some of these views are not original, but I wanted to add my voice.
