Stars Falling from the Sky, Slavoj Žižek. Laibach, Ljubljana and NSK

Another thing in the Bible that cannot be taken literally is where it talks about the stars falling from the sky. What is this supposed to mean? It can only be understood symbolically. The sky is an illusion. In relationship to what would the stars be falling. If we try to take it literally it falls apart. I can only see it as meaning very big changes taking place. What those things are I do not know. I find it hard to believe that there are people who try to see this as a literal event that will take place.
I am reading a book by Slavoj Žižek, The Puppet and the Dwarf: The Perverse Core of Christianity. It is a very interesting book. Some of my posts recently have been sparked by ideas in this book. I find his writing challenging but worth the effort. His books definitely definitely inspire thought. He wrote about the relationship between Judas and Jesus in this book. He also wrote about the more radical teachings of Jesus such as not loving anything or anyone as much as we do him. This idea is also used concerning ideologies. In some totalitarian societies citizens are expected to turn in those who disobey laws even if that means turning against family members.
Inspired by the reading of this book I was looking at some images from Ljubljana, Slovenia where Žižek is a professor. In the photos it looks like a beautiful city, and I would love to visit there. I also love the sound of the city's name.
I was made aware of the writings of Slavoj Žižek through his forward to the book Interrogation Machine : Laibach and NSK. This and the book mentioned above are part of the Short Circuits Series of books published by The MIT Press. Žižek is the editor of that series. NSK (Neue Slowenische Kunst) is a very interesting art collective. They have symbolic passports, and some day I would like to get one of them. Laibach, a Slovenian music group is a part of NSK, is also very interesting. They have been accused of being fascistic. They have used fascist symbolism in their music videos and art. They have mostly done this to show the extremist possibility of fascism. When the group was first formed their name was banned in Slovenia. Laibach is the German name for the capital of Slovenia, Ljubjana. Posters for their first concerts simply had a black cross and the time and place of the concert. Their music is very wide in range encompassing avant-garde composition, rock, rap, Baroque music, etc. One of their albums was a cover of "Let it Be" by the Beatles except for the title song, another of their CDs is made up of songs based on national anthems, and another is based on Kunst der Fuge by J.S. Bach. They have released several DVDs of music videos and concerts. One of the latter is "The Divided States of America" which has concert footage of a tour that took place in the U.S.A. during the second Bush's administration. It started in Washington. D.C. The title refers to the potilical division of the country into red and blue states.
These are some of the things that have drawn my interest.
